The Conjuring (2013)

The first Horror movie I'm going to watch this Year. The conjuring, directed by James Wan is said to be "based on true story" for which is, I don't really know if it really is. This movie, even though it is not yet showing in my country, I've already been hearing rumors, side comments and spoilers. I even heard that I'm one cinema here in Manila, after watching the movie, a girl became "possessed" inside the cinema! Hehe...such an effective way of Advertising a movie.

At the first 30 minutes i was like, "Guys, calm down, you're all being exaggerated." But when the Maid scene came out, HOLY SHIT I swear it creeped the shit out me.

Overall. The movie is--wait, Overall already? No plot? Well, anyways, Overall, the movie is HORRIBLE! in a sense it will make you scream, close your eyes, makes your heart pound and makes you go pee.

Sinister (2012)

Sinister (2012) directed by Scott Derrickson is a Thrilling horror mystery movie (with a pinch of cult-y demon part) about Ellison Oswalt, a book writer who moved in a house where horrific events happened prior their arrival.

Sinister, from the word itself. At I was skeptical on how will this movie scares the shit out of me, the beginning of the movie was vague, never even knew he was a writer --I thought he's a detective of some sort but anyways, the movie. The movie itself is outstanding, never fails to shock me at the right moment. The sound effects even made he movie scarier.

Overall, I must say that I liked it. Made me scream a little in me seat (more like moan.....I guess), the story is nice, although some part are cliché, still I'd give this a 4 start rating. Also the movie is fast paced --for me, I quite find the movie to rather end quickly than expected and still left me hungry for more.

Well, I've got nothing much to say anyways except WATCH IT. Watch this movie in either in a theater or much better with your earphone in a dark room, that way you'll literally jump out of your seat haha.

The Crazies (2010)

The Crazies by Breck Eisner is a Horror, Thriller movie from the 1973 film on the same title is a movie where we can closely relate to the 2007 movie 30 Days of Night 1 but the only difference is that the predators are not Vampires.

The movie is nice, gives me goosebumps (come to think that I'm alone watching and the wind is chilly and all lights out) and made me look outside my window for me to escape in case of Zombies come out wah! The story is about a toxic that came out from a private plane that crashed down on the Swamp of the town of Iowa. Filled with Biological Weapon, the toxic spread water through water which turns the town folks into violent Flesh killing vessel.

I like the movie for everything is good. Lighting, cuts, acting, superb. I find it really cool especially the movie progression. The movie wont leave you hanging, the transition from scene to scene is also nice.

Zombie Diaries 2: World of the Dead (2011)

First of all, Zombie Diaries 2: World of the Dead is stupid although I get the point of the movie, a post apocalyptic where zombies are not the only a threat to humanity but also bandits. Well, why did I say stupid? Because the movie is really unconvincing as if this they're just doing their rehearsal to the movie. Also the zombies, Zombies are not like the creatures from Descent where they  can't sense you, and I must say they probably they must've read the Book from Max Brooks first.

The acting was a little goofy, the lighting is stupid although I know that they are using the Found-Footage effect they must have paid some attention to the lighting too. The sound effect is inappropriate in most of the scenes like the wind blowing SFX inside a walled house pathetic. The camera constantly "blurs" in which the movie became more and more annoying.

Bottom line, I didn't even know how did this movie get into the big screen and I am not saying as a hater for I love zombie movies but this is just...wrong. I tell you, stay away from this movie. Not worth a watch at all. Also, not in question the authority of the rater, 

"A Slaughterhouse of Horror, Bloody and Terrifying"

How I wished there is a scene where its bloody and terrifying but unfortunately NONE! And for the record, I only watched this movie because I though this movie was connected to George Romero's Diary of the Dead.

   

I Spit on Your Grave (2010)

I Spit on Your Grave at first I thought was a Paranormal, Horror Thriller flick in which the girl on the poster was a witch or something demon like which possess supernatural powers. but then all things changed when I've watched the entire film. Form title itself it kind of sounds like Zombies coming back to life eh? Well its not. This movie is sick, just like Saw but the conspirator is a woman.

I Spit on Your Grave is a Crime and vengeance filled movie with some porn scenes (on the Unrated version) in which the story revolves on Jennifer, a hot and sexy writer set of to a remote cabin so that she can relax and cool down in which instead she find herself being assaulted by some unknown guys and now she seeks revenge for what they've done to her by taking them down one-by-one.

Overall the movie was great. Simply awesome, bloody disgusting. The story was strong, nice environment and nice storyline.

Daybreakers (2009)

Daybreakers  by Michael and Peter Spierig is an Action sci-fi movie about vampires. Well, about humans as well. You see, this movie is set on the near future i guess, where people are turned into Vampires to be immortal and such. The story is about saving human kind from extinction with the help of some humans of course and an ex vampire.

I like this movie, unlike any other vamp movies I've watched (and like those I'm not going to watch). This movie has a lot to offer you see, in such a short time the movie executed lots of scenes and never a dull moment occurred!

Overall the movie is nice, great, nice effects although not fond of watching vampire movies (I kinda more like Zombie movies though ^^) I really liked this one. Also another thing, I only didn't get how did the vampires returned to Human again? Was it because they drank an ex vampire blood? What about the burning experiments? What was it for then? And why did the vamps explodes when a wooden stick touches them...well I guess I gotta do some research then Haha.

Oh yeah, there are some scenes though that Ethan Hawke looks like Tom Cruise and yeah, 5 stars for this movie for it kept me 'til the end of the movie.

Scream 4 (2011)

Scream 4 directed Wes Craven is a Thriller-Horror movie a sequel to Scream 1, 2 and 3. Well, First, i have no backgrounds on the previous films so I have nothing to share you  more about this.

Anyways, before I watch this movie, I thought...that this is a Comedy movie, just like Scary Movie so I ended up laughing all the way through all until the end without taking the scenes seriously I mean come on, I haven't watched the first 3 prequels duh. Plus, the introduction part resembles a comedy movie...a movie within a movie. Cool intro though!

I don't know but seriously whenever someone is being brutally stabbed, slit, slashed or beaten down to death I just can't stop laughing. Weird --but I like it.

Well, that is all can share with you guys, but hey! the movie is great, has some nice blood splashing action. Only thing is how come the "ghostface" guy managed to stab literally stab through the cop's skull (it penetrated through!) and still, manage to walk?

The Shrine (2011)

The Shrine 2011 directed by Jon Knautz is a Thrilling Horror movie about a story of 2 Journalist and a Photographer trying to get a "good story" to show to their boss; set out somewhere in Poland, instead, the story found them.

The movie was nice indeed, Although not that "too" nice for the movie left me a little disappointed for the language used, well I don't know if they're really speaking Polish how I wished that they put a subtitle so the audience know what they're talking about. Also I'll make a comment about the special effects used, its just simply obvious, about the fog thingy when they entered the mist, it can easily be spotted that they are using blue screen on that scene. Also as the movie progresses, its really dull, lots of useless talks and scenes that really didn't helped the movie (well for me no) like the bee scene, I barely understand whats the bee doing there? Whatever.

Anyways, the movie didn't sucks all together for the movie turned different at end which is...of course left for you to watch! I just liked the way the story turned out as if not your typical horror ending where everyone dies or everyone escaped etc. I love the human sacrifice thing, its really bloody and evil.

I really do have a lot of thoughts needed to be answered as the movie started to reel but then as the movie ends everything that boggled my mind just snapped out. Nice movie too by the way quite cheap on the scary part but the story will not fail to entertain you.

Overall this is a nice movie, worth watching. Also, I just simply love the cursed statue story...its just so, unique; plus the fact that the statue is indeed creepy looking.

  

1408 (2007)

The movie 1408 is both horrifying and thrilling in a sense where you are being tortured by mind. The movie itself is indeed at first quite laggy, boring but as the movie progresses you will start to freak out. At the middle-end I thought everything was alright (Yey! A happy ending!), but I guess I was wrong...

Directed by Mikael Håfström, this movie turned out nice, the special effects are nice, the ghosts looked like techy for they disappeared like a monitor screen being plugged out instantly. The movie is confusing, at first, for the movie is being re winded and goes forth and so, its so mind bending.

The movie is like The Grave Encounters-ish type, because of the "being transported into a different dimension" story but then again this movie was filmed first so I give the uniqueness and creativity to the Director, good job!

The movie is thrilling but no screaming, no frightening stuffs except for the One Missed Call dude (the creepy undead Mike Enslin found at the air shaft). No peek a boo, just frightening, torturish and mind bending stuffs. Altogether, I'll give this film a 5 star rating (wohoo!) for the great story and acting, worth watching even to those who are weak hearted ^^. Cheers!

The Blair Witch Project (1999)

The Blair Witch Project directed by Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez is a Horror film featuring three college student making their a documentary uncovering whether the Blair Witch were true or not and soon find out that they're being hunted by the witch itself.

To be straight forward, I myself did not enjoy the movie nor liked it, well each people have their own taste when it comes to horror movies and even so, I'll give credit to the looping back to the same place scenes and voodoo item scenes for I kinda find them really scary --out in a middle of forest seeing those strange runic trinkets will really make even the calmest person to insane paranoia.

I guess the comments I found were not accurate in the present time, the 10/10 rating would be an inappropriate score when today's rating would be plotted. A big no-no. 

In comparison in other movies, I more like The Tunnel why? First of all, the movie neither state nor let the audiences know who or what the witch looks like and what about the children? What was that all about? What happened to Josh anyway? What about the slime? What is the reason Josh were taken? You see movies that leaves a lot of to the audiences often makes them frustrated.

Uninhabited (2010)

The Uninhabited directed by Bill Bennett is a Mysterious Thriller movie that sets on a remote island zeroing on a couple who had a trip onto the island. The movie is low on characters so each of them is noticeable.

Actually there is nothing too "shiny" in this movie except for the cute couple though, I think Harry is cute but anyway the Beach is great too 'ya know! I also liked the creepy ambiance in the film but the downfall of this is that the movie is rather unrealistic, more like fictional I mean, ghost killing people?

The movie at first confuses me, The first thing the creepy sound took place I was thinking of zombies...next Wrong turn creatures; the last thing I though was ghost. 

Oh kay, I couldn't find any links that will forward you to the casts not even the director on wikipedia; I guess they're not that popular though.

Bottom line, the movie is watchable with some redundant public display of affection (correction its not public, no one is there except them! duh). The movie is worth 3 star not 2 well I kinda like to give it 2 but I just remembered the movie I gave 2 which is WHOA major disaster I never even bothered to blog it! But then again considering the nice place and creepy sounds I'll give them 3 stars.

One thing that left me crippled from the movie is that what happened to Beth? i though she was dead why is she still walking? And what happened to Coral? Is she a ghost or what? Did Coral gave Harry a blow job on this scene?

Because I can see that he is being satisfied on that scene or was just because of his acting?  I mean if you watch this scene I'll tell you you'll have the blow thing coming in your head first!

One more thing, I really love his British accent. I really do I sounds...nice.

The Caller (2011)

The Caller is said to be a Mysterious-Thrilling movie directed by Matthew Parkhill

which is indeed left me thrilled and confused due to the "mystery part." Frankly I got bored watching this one, the lighting are just so dim, the camera movements makes me dizzy and the swapping of scenes are just too fast I can see what they're afraid of (especially the corpse on the pantry and the finger fell out of the buried handkerchief)

I really appreciate this movie of it has a very distinct plot, where the past calls the present and the present messes wit the past and now the past haunts her by destroying the past making the present worse for her. Much like of a Frequency movie but instead an old hag trying to kill an innocent woman are the main characters here.

As I said earlier, I got tired form watching some scenes (really!) but thank god the middle-ending scenes were good so I got woken up. The ending is unsatisfying probably left me hanging. 

Bottom line, nice movie, bad...uuh unsatisfying directing well, If there's gonna be a sequel I hope they make it better...if there's gonna be, that's the question. =D

Hmm.never given a 2 star before but hey, I guess every people have different taste huh?

The Signs (2002)

The Signs is a 2002 mystery, sci-fi, thriller movie by M. Night Shyamalan (Manoj Nelliyattu Shyamalan). The movie covers most about teh ruckus of Aliens taking over the planet harvests us causing Graham's faith as a Reverend to test.

Like in my previous blogs, I've always put a comment on how the movie progresses, is it slow? fast? boring? Well on this one I think its just...meh. I found it in the end that the scenes are all connected and gives important information in the end so I'd say its just fine.

I like the concept of Aliens trying to get hold on Earth but some things are just ain't right for me for some things as well are left unanswered and just simply skipped.

The movie is great oh yes but then again some scenes are somehow far strayed off, (my opinion) I think the death of Graham's wife has really nothing to do with the story though she does says something about he last message to her family especially the "Tell Merill to swing away" part where Merill killed the Alien by batting it on and off and throwing some water onto its face; which reminds me of this part in the end which really boggles me, what was the Alien's purpose on landing on Earth? It wasn't stated in the movie as well as the Veterinarian Rey Reddy's (hey he's the director!) purpose. He only did is to trap the Alien behind his Pantry door and the rest is like poof! I didn't even know if he survived or not? Also in at the ending where the Alien sprayed this "mist" on Morgan, was it a healing spray of a poison gas (okay, since Morgan was alive speaking I assume it is a Healing spray)? If it is, why did the Alien did that? What is with Bo's strange premonitions? At the ending itself, it was infilling, it feels nothing as if I were cut down in the middle of a climax? i must say the movie ended badly how  wished they sum all things up and give better ending like saying "every one's okay!" or some sort.

Bottom line, the movie is watchable. You see the movie poster is really catchy so I had a very high expectation on it like Human-Alien encounter-combat  and hordes of them but nah. A real eye-candy though.

The Box (2009)

The Box is a 2009 suspense drama sci-fi movie directed by Richard Kelly based on the short story of Richard Matheson: "Button, Button." The movie features Wooden box, although not actually the main issue in the movie. The movie itself have a unique...setting, the movie starts in a mysterious way not your usual movie entrance and it automatically leaves you a hint that: "My mind has to work on this one!"

The movie itself contains a lot of unexplained and unusual things, from the Man who carries the Box, the so called "experiment," strange happenings such a, nose bleeding etc. I really do a lot of things boggling in my mind after the movie have finished for most of the mare left unanswered. Examples are the people who are like being mind-control or some sort, (are they?) also Mr. Steward's "employers," whats up with the circular torrent of liquidish-jello in a NASA warehouse?

Bottom line,  Its not that I hate this one (or maybe its just me) in the end I really didn't understand what are the motive of this Mr. Steward and What about this supernatural powers and floating waters? But I understand that the one who presses the button dies, but then again they will win $1,000,000 Tax free!

Its not really that bad but if you understand the movie better than I am, feel free to make a comment and see what I'm missing out yeah?

The Descent: Part 2

First things first, I've already watched the Part 1 and I can fully say THIS one is better but shorter. The Descent: Part 2 is a wonderful sequel to its predecessor and I must say its really good!

I didn't expect that the story would be like this, actually in some parts of me I feel sorry for the ending, I know its an "impact" ending but I'd rather consider this as a BAD ending...why?

Cause all of them died! Ugh, and come to think that Juno was alive as well (actually when the scene where Sarah & Juno finally met, I felt kinda, whoa this is gonna great, their friends again! HA!), but then suddenly they died in the end.  <---- Sorry for the spoiler there, unfortunately I don't know how to make those Show/hide buttons you see, doesn't seem to work @_@ anyways, like I said,  how I wished the ending was a little lighter, a happy ending not leaving the viewers heavy headed and frustrated. The man at the end of the film, why did he do that? I'm sure he knows something and we will all know that...on the Part 3.
